    Governor of Lower Austria

„If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to reach for the endless immensity of the sea“ this famous quote of  Antoine de Saint-Exupéry it seem was an inspiration for the founders of REEFCALENDAR.

I am very proud of our Lower Austrian clubs, which are an important creative force in our county.

The resource water, as a basic need for humans and nature, naturally also plays a special role in Lower Austria. Oceans which are a crucial part of the global water cycle, are in greater need of protection than ever before against various threats, including pollution and climate change. Not only do they function as the world’s most important oxygen storage, they also provide us with a valuable food source. This requires a well-thought-out climate protection policy that includes actions to restore and conserve biodiversity as well as cautious use. This not only affects the part of world population living in coastal regions, but also we Lower Austrians as part of a an area without coast are obliged to do our outmost.
